Urban Development Awards

The awards are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and excellence in urban development across NSW and the ACT. There are 18 categories open for entry.

The benefits of participating in the UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence are numerous. Ultimately entrants compete to gain a prestigious award to reap the enormous marketing and media value of a ‘finalist’ or ‘winner’ awards seal. Select winners may have the opportunity to represent NSW at the UDIA National Awards for Excellence. Eligible winners will be contacted by the UDIA NSW office.

Presidents Award

The prestigious UDIA NSW President’s Award is an honour bestowed on the best project out of the annual UDIA NSW/ACT Awards for Excellence winners. The Institute’s President personally selects this best-of-the-best project based on its superior innovation and quality. The winner of this award is announced at the Annual President’s Luncheon.

Leadership Awards

These awards have been designed to acknowledge and celebrate industry leaders who have made a significant contribution to our industry and champions positive change. Nominations are welcomed for individuals themselves, their colleagues or a company, depending on the Award. There are 4 Leadership Awards categories; Young Leaders’, Women in Leadership, Diversity & Inclusion and Distinguished Service.

Young Leaders’ Award for Excellence

Awarded annually to an individual under the age of 35

This award acknowledges and promotes the positive contribution young property professionals make to the NSW property industry. UDIA NSW encourages young professionals across all disciplines of the development industry from both the public and private sectors to enter, including developers, contractors, consultants and those involved in property services.

Women in Leadership Award for Excellence

Awarded annually to an individual female

This award acknowledges and promotes the positive contribution of women to the NSW property industry. UDIA NSW encourages female professionals across all disciplines of the development industry from both the public and private sectors to enter including developers, contractors, consultants and those involved in property services. The award aims to recognise outstanding women working at mid to senior levels within the NSW development industry and acknowledge their achievements.

Diversity & Inclusion Award for Excellence

Awarded annually to an organisation / company

This award seeks to acknowledge, encourage and most importantly, promote diversity and inclusion within the NSW property industry. UDIA NSW encourages its member organisations / companies from both the public and private sectors, to enter this award. Nominees will be able to demonstrate diversity and inclusion within their organisation or within the development industry as a whole. They must show innovation in their workplace, the industry or in relation to a specific project/issue and demonstrate how they have had a positive influence on diversity and inclusion in the development industry.

Distinguished Service Award for Excellence

Awarded annual to an individual nominated by the UDIA NSW Council

This award seeks to recognise an individual who has contributed to UDIA NSW in a significant way, the benefits of which are lasting and can be readily seen. Candidates for this award may come from any area of the development industry from both public and private sectors including developers, contractors and consultants. A shortlist of applicants is created by UDIA NSW for the judging panel with no industry nominations necessary. This award is judged and awarded by members of the UDIA NSW Council.

Roy Sheargold Scholarship

The Roy Sheargold Scholarship was founded in memory of one of the most respected figures in the property development sector, life member of UDIA National and UDIA NSW. Roy sat on the Council of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (NSW) almost 50 years ago. He remained actively involved in the industry, UDIA and international industry bodies for more than 45 years. Roy believed that if you wanted to be a great developer you had to continually update your knowledge and travel the world to learn from international developers.

 

Scholarship Overview

The UDIA NSW Roy Sheargold Scholarship will be awarded annually to an individual who demonstrates exceptional professional and/or academic achievement. The award is about helping individuals get to the next level. For this reason, the ideal applicant would use the scholarship to conduct research, further their education and/or professional networks. The successful applicant for the 2019 Roy Sheargold Scholarship will receive financial assistance of up to $7,500.
