We will hear how the Department will work with Sydney Water as the new water management authority for the Aerotropolis, the master planning process and the role of panels and the coordinated delivery of transport. Catherine will also outline how Connecting to Country principles will be assessed in future development proposals.

    The complexities around biodiversity regulations are having an increasingly negative impact on both development and ecological aspirations for our regions. UDIA is working with DPIE and the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) on possible changes to the offset charge system. We are also developing broader recommendations to improve the regulatory approach overall and bring more certainty for development. Join us to hear where biodiversity regulation is headed as the BCT outlines their proposed changes and EMM presents the outcomes of UDIA’s biodiversity policy paper.

    One of the critical issues currently facing NSW is the need for a variety of housing options to meet the needs of different people. To drive more housing supply and meet these increasing needs, the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) is continuing to review and consolidate its state policies related to diverse, affordable, seniors, caravan and manufactured housing. As a result, the NSW Government has developed a new Housing State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing SEPP). This new policy, a draft of which has recently been exhibited, aims to deliver more diverse and affordable housing types in NSW. UDIA TV is delighted to welcome Luke Walton, Executive Director, Housing and Economic Policy to share with us the work to date on the draft Housing SEPP and provide detail on how the policy will support industry to deliver the diverse and affordable housing that NSW needs. Luke will also talk to us about the relationship of the policy to other reforms being led by DPIE.

    The last time the Greater Sydney Commission (GSC) worked on its regional plans, it resulted in ‘The Region Plan, A Metropolis of Three Cities’, a major re-visioning of Sydney. It also led to the release of the Retain And Manage industrial lands policy. The GSC is now working on its review of the Regional Plans and has also been working on the broader economic development of the Central Coast. UDIA TV is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Mildwater, CEO of the GSC, to share with us her hopes for the review of the Greater Sydney Regional Plan, the review of the Retain and Manage industrial lands policy and how GSC’s housing targets can help to tackle the housing supply and affordability crisis facing NSW. Elizabeth will also talk to us about the progress of the Greater Sydney Commission’s Central Coast Economic Strategy.
