The last time the Greater Sydney Commission (GSC) worked on its regional plans, it resulted in ‘The Region Plan, A Metropolis of Three Cities’, a major re-visioning of Sydney. It also led to the release of the Retain And Manage industrial lands policy. The GSC is now working on its review of the Regional Plans and has also been working on the broader economic development of the Central Coast. UDIA TV is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Mildwater, CEO of the GSC, to share with us her hopes for the review of the Greater Sydney Regional Plan, the review of the Retain and Manage industrial lands policy and how GSC’s housing targets can help to tackle the housing supply and affordability crisis facing NSW. Elizabeth will also talk to us about the progress of the Greater Sydney Commission’s Central Coast Economic Strategy.

The complexities around biodiversity regulations are having an increasingly negative impact on both development and ecological aspirations for our regions. UDIA is working with DPIE and the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) on possible changes to the offset charge system. We are also developing broader recommendations to improve the regulatory approach overall and bring more certainty for development.
